The BIOS version 1.3 Beta for the Abit IS7-G, a rival product, arrived. The initial tests show that Abit has made the same leap in performance and is now at the same level as Asus. Thus, the frame rates in Quake 3 have increased from 366 to 418 fps - this may be a sign that Abit has also activated PAT.
On peut lire sur Tom's Hardware qu'Abit serait sur le point de mettre à disposition un BIOS version 1.3 Beta pour sa carte mère Abit IS7-G, basée sur le chipset i865PE.
La particularité de ce BIOS chez Abit serait qu'il activerait le fameux PAT sur le chipset i865PE, normallement prévu exclusivement sur l'875PE. En effet, notre confrère a constaté qu'avec ce nouveau BIOS sous Quake 3, le nombre de fps passe de 366 à 418.
Chez OCWorkBench, on peut lire : Springdale performance boost
Apparently a company (named A***) has found a way to enable PAT on the Springdale promising 5-10% increase in performance and not through hidden overclocking techniques.
Après Asus, bon nombre de fabricants de cartes mère pourraient suivre le même chemin, ce qui pourrait déplaire à monsieur Intel...
